Do I have to register in person?
The visa application form must be submitted in person. A diplomatic mission does not accept applications sent by fax, traditional mail or e-mail.
How to make an appointment?
To apply for a visa, an appointment must be made viae-consulate: https://secure.e-konsulat.gov.pl/to select the appropriate category "Schengen Visa - Registration Form".
Appointment dates are sent to the system on the last Monday of the month at 9.30 am (local time). In case the listed dates fall on a holiday, visa appointments will be released at the same time on the next business day. The opening of new slots is subject to general availability/limits by day.
Registration of the visa application for a purpose other than that indicated in the selected type of visa/registration, making significant changes to the visa application after registration will result in rejection of the visa application.Please register your visa applications carefully and pay due attention.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE:The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Abuja does not cooperate with any agents or commercial visa agencies. These entities are unable to provide visa dates. The only cost is the visa fee charged by the consulate.
Note that:
- Candidates must correctly enter all their personal details in the application form during the registration procedure.
- Applicants must enter the correct information in their valid passport.
- Applicants are required to provide their full personal details in the application form: full residential address (including house number, street name, city, state and zip code) AND personal contact details (e.g. email address and landline or mobile phone number) ).
IMPORTANT MESSAGE: The earliest you can apply is 6 months before the planned trip. The application must be submitted no later than 15 days in advance.
What documents do I have to submit?
General list of documents to be submitted:
- Visa application form filled in by e-Konsulat (insert hyperlink) system, printed and signed.
- A color photo measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm. The image must be:
- sharp, made on a white background and printed on high-quality paper,
- newer than 6 months,
- made on the face clearly showing the eyes and the face from both sides from the top of the head to the top of the shoulders, with the face taking up 70-80% of the photo. The photo must be taken without a headgear.
- Passport issued within the last ten years, valid for at least three months from the expected date of return, with at least two blank pages for visas. If you have another valid passport, you must attach it to your visa application.
- A copy of the passport page with personal data and a photo.
- A copy of the flight ticket or flight reservation that includes the return flight.
- Applicants for a Schengen visa (single or double entry) must prove that they have adequate and valid travel health insurance covering all expenses that may arise during their stay in the territory of the Member States in connection with the need to return for health reasons, the need for urgent medical care, urgent hospitalization or death. Applicants for a multiple-entry visa must demonstrate that they have sufficient and valid travel health insurance for the first intended visit. The insurance must be valid in the EU Member States and cover the entire period of the planned stay. The minimum insurance amount is EUR 30,000.
- A copy of an identity document to prove your stay in the consular district to which the application relates.
- Evidence of sufficient means of subsistence in the form established by the mission:
- a valid bank statement issued by your bank or balance within the last 3 months,
- A valid credit card with a certificate of available funds,
- a valid certificate of income from the employer for the last three months and payslips,
- retirement vouchers,
- Regular income generated by the property.
- Proof of accommodation (for example, official invitation or hotel reservation).
- A document confirming the purpose and conditions of the planned stay in Poland.
In addition, when applying for a visa for a minor, you must provide:
- Written consent of the child's parents to apply for a visa, notarized. If there is only one guardian, this must be confirmed by the birth certificate, sole custody decision or death certificate of the other parent.
- Originals and copies of parents' passports.
- Original and copy of birth certificate.
If the child is listed in the passport of the parent or guardian, please submit a separate visa application. The visa will be placed in the passport of the parent or guardian.

- Tourism- additional documents:
- Hotel reservation or proof of other accommodation; in the case of applicants who plan to stay with family or friends or otherwise be sponsored by Polish/EU citizens, an invitation registered by the relevant Polish authorities (Wojewódzki Office) is required.
- Documents relating to the applicant's sufficient means of subsistence during the intended stay, such as: a letter of recommendation from the employer with the employer's consent to leave; payouts; proof of company ownership; personal/company bank statements; certificate of income generated by the property; a letter from the sponsor and documents regarding the sponsor's financial situation;
- Proof of employment:
- Tax clearance certificate (TCC) and company registration certificate for business people.
- An employment contract specifying vacation days for employees.
- For academics (professors, fellows, lecturers, instructors, etc.) and students, a letter from school or university.
- Evidence of business activities in Nigeria and abroad for business people, e.g. bills of lading, receipt book, etc.
- Any evidence of links in Nigeria (marriage certificate, ID or real estate).
- Visiting family or friends- additional documents:
- A copy of a written and signed invitation from the inviter specifying the conditions of the visit (duration of stay, who covers the costs, etc.).
- Hotel reservation or proof of other accommodation; in the case of applicants who plan to stay with family or friends or otherwise be sponsored by Polish/EU citizens, an invitation registered by the relevant Polish authorities (Wojewódzki Office) is required.
- For family visits - marriage certificate. The local marriage certificate must be registered in Poland (more information: Legalization of documents.
- In the case of friendly visits - proof of friendly relations between the applicant and the person visited (correspondence, photos, etc.).
- A photocopy of the inviting person's Polish/EU passport/ID card (if applicable) and - if the inviting person is not a Polish/EU citizen - a photocopy of the inviting person's visa or residence permit in Poland/EU.
- Documents relating to the applicant's sufficient means of subsistence during the intended stay, such as: a letter of recommendation from the employer with the employer's consent to leave; payouts; proof of company ownership; personal/company bank statements; certificate of income generated by the property; a letter from the sponsor and documents regarding the financial situation of the sponsor.
- Documents relating to the applicant's family situation (marriage/birth certificates).
- Visit to the company- additional documents:
- A copy of a written and signed invitation of the inviting person or institution, specifying the purpose and conditions of the visit (duration of stay, who covers the costs, etc.);
- Hotel reservation or proof of other accommodation; in the case of applicants who plan to stay with family or friends or otherwise be sponsored by Polish/EU citizens, an invitation registered by the relevant Polish authorities (Wojewódzki Office) is required.
- Certificate of tax permit and certificate of establishment of the institution delegating the applicant for the visit.
- A copy of the certificate of no arrears with the tax clearance and a certificate of establishing a business by the Polish economic institution inviting the applicant to visit.
- Evidence of commercial activity in the country of residence, recent business contacts with the host company (contracts, invoices, business correspondence, etc.).
- Evidence of previous business relationships with other Polish/Schengen institutions.
- For business conferences, fairs, seminars, congresses, etc. - invitation; proof of registration and payment of fees; other documents confirming the existence of commercial or employment relations.
- Documents relating to the applicant's sufficient means of subsistence during the intended stay, such as: a letter of recommendation from the employer with the employer's consent to leave; payouts; proof of company ownership; personal/company bank statements; certificate of income generated by the property; a letter from the sponsor and documents regarding the financial situation of the sponsor.
- Documents relating to the applicant's family situation (marriage/birth certificates).
- Medical care- additional documents:
- Certificate from the applicant's doctor or hospital in the country of residence confirming the need for specific treatment in the country of destination.
- A copy of written official confirmation from the host medical institution that it can perform the specified treatment and that the patient will be accommodated accordingly.
- Proof of prepayment for treatment or other proof of sufficient financial resources to cover the cost of treatment and related expenses, e.g. additional insurance.
- Any other correspondence between sending and receiving parties, if available.
- Hotel reservation or proof of other accommodation. In the case of applicants planning to stay with family or friends or otherwise sponsored by Polish/EU citizens, an invitation registered in the relevant Polish offices (Wojewódzki Office) is required.
- Documents relating to the applicant's sufficient means of subsistence during the intended stay, such as: a letter of recommendation from the employer with the employer's consent to leave; payouts; proof of company ownership; personal/company bank statements; certificate of income generated by the property; a letter from the sponsor and documents regarding the financial situation of the sponsor.
- Documents relating to the applicant's family situation (marriage/birth certificates).
- Research and education- additional documents:
- Certificate of admission to an educational institution for the purpose of studies, scientific or practical training (including vocational training) or other activity that may contribute to strengthening the professional and intellectual skills of the applicant.
- Student ID or certificates confirming participation in courses.
- Proof of prepayment for courses or training, if applicable.
- Official mission or official purpose- additional documents:
- Verbal note issued by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming that the applicant is a member of an official delegation or on an official mission to a member state.
- Invitation or confirmation of registration from the host organization.
- Scientific purposes, cultural, sporting or religious events or other reasons- additional documents:
- A copy of the official invitation.
- Invitation, admission tickets, registrations or programs containing (if possible) the name of the host organization, length of stay or other documents confirming the purpose of the trip.
Please note:
- You must apply for a visa at the consular office or at the consular section of the embassy in the consular district of your place of residence.
- Usually, the above documents are enough to obtain a visa, however, the consul may request additional documents.
- Apply for a visa at least six months before your intended trip.
- The consul may or may not invite the applicant for an interview.
- You may be banned from entering any Schengen country if you provide false documents or false information.
- Obtaining a visa does not guarantee entry to the Schengen area - the final decision is always made by the authorities of the country where you intend to cross the border of the Schengen area. At the external border, you will be asked to provide proof that meets the entry requirements.
IMPORTANT ADVICE:
- Applicants must provide two (2) sets of documents for visa application - one (1)originala set of documents and one (1) set of photocopies. All documents must be arranged according to the visa requirements checklist available on the embassy website.
- All documents for the photocopy set must be on A4 paper.
- Visa applicants are requested to submit the necessary documents when submitting their visa application.
- For family and group applications, each applicant must have the same set of documents and arrange them accordingly in the checklist of required documents on the website.
How much is it?
The visa fee is 80 euros. For details, see the full list of consular fees in the general information section (https://www.gov.pl/web/nigeria-pl/opłaty-konsularne)
Fees must be paid at the secretariat when submitting the application.
Accepted forms of payment: cash.
The fee for processing the visa application is non-refundable, regardless of the consul's decision.
VISA FEE EXEMPTIONS:
- Children under 6 years of age;
- Foreigners who are spouses of Polish citizens;
- Foreigners who are spouses of EU citizens;
- Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers traveling for the purpose of study or training;
- Researchers from third countries traveling for the purpose of research as defined in Recommendation 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 on facilitating the issuance by Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries traveling within Community for scientific research;
- Representatives of non-profit organizations under the age of 25 who participate in seminars, conferences, sporting, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.
What is the waiting time?
The consul makes a decision on the visa within 15 calendar days. Exceptionally, the time to make a decision may be extended by up to 30 or 60 days.
In the case of citizens of certain countries or categories of travelers, the application processing period may be extended due to the need for visa consultations.

How to collect documents?
Decisions can be collected (only in person or by a duly authorized person) within the time limit indicated by the consular officer when submitting the visa application,between 13.30 and 14.30.If the listed dates fall on a non-working day, visa decisions will be issued on the next working day at the same time.
Please note:
- Visa applicants are informed when applying for a visa about the date of receipt of the passport on the issued acknowledgment of receipt. Applicants are then advised to keep this receipt as proof of entry to the embassy for easy reference later on the day of issue.
- Applicants may authorize a representative to apply for a passport and visa decision on their behalf. The embassy will then require a signed and handwritten authorization from the applicant, along with a receipt and government issued ID for both the applicant and the representative (also in A4 format).
- The embassy does not send documents by courier.
How to appeal?
If you disagree with the consul's decision, you can request a reconsideration of your visa application. An application for reconsideration of the case must be submitted to the office that issued the decision, no later than 14 days after its issuance.
The applicant (or a person acting on his behalf after a written authorization) must come to the embassy without making an appointment during the working hours of the reception (Monday - Friday from 14:30 to 15:30) with documents, pay EUR 80 and present the case.
The application fee in this case is 80 euros.
Please note that an appeal cannot be completed per post or by submitting documents via DHL.
If 14 days have passed, the applicant must make a new appointment online.
Revocation or cancellation of a Schengen visa
If you have received a decision to revoke or cancel your Schengen visa with which you do not agree, you have the right to request a reassessment. But if you have applied for revocation of the Schengen visa yourself and the consul agrees to it, you have no right to complain. You must apply for a reassessment within 14 days of receiving the decision to annul or revoke your Schengen visa at the consular post that issued the decision.
If you apply for a reassessment after your Schengen visa has been revoked or cancelled, you do not have to pay the consular fee.
Appeal against a refusal to issue a Schengen visa, a decision to revoke or annul a Schengen visa, and actions of a consul in this regard
If the consul examining your application for reconsideration issues a new decision to refuse, annul or revoke a visa with which you do not agree, you have the right to appeal to the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw. The appeal should be submitted through the consul who issued the decision within 30 days from the date of receipt of the decision issued as a result of reconsideration of the case.
You do not pay a consular fee for lodging a complaint with a consul, but you must pay a fee for proceedings before administrative courts. Therefore, you must be aware that the court will ask you to pay the court fee.
